From his point of view: Rom Coms vs Real Life

The knight in the shiny armour riding the white horse has forever been imprinted in the female brain in the form of Richard Gere in "Pretty Woman". It seems almost impossible for any woman who has watched the film not to have imagined herself as the beautiful princess being rescued from her tower.

And while you daydream about the perfect guy with watery eyes as the film credits roll, the only thought that can possibly cross our mind is... "who the fuck believes this shit?"

The obvious answer lies right next to us in the couch!

Now, call me insensitive, but in case you haven't noticed, there aren't too many real life situations where this kind of scene is even remotely possible. Yet you all fall for it!

It's not that we don't believe in romance, true love and stuff, but you really have to understand that a movie is just a movie... with actors... in a studio... How can I say this? It's SCRIPTED !!! It's not going to happen to you or anyone you know, because these things don't actually happen in real life.

"But they do! It happened to Harry and Sally"
"That's a film, honey..."

"It also happened to Sam and Annie!"
"... Sam and Annie?"

"Yeah, he was the guy who couldn't sleep in Seattle and Annie was..."
"Also a film!!!"

"It happened to Bridget and Marc"

"It happened to us..."

....................a (few)
* moment(s) of silence, after which your only possible reply could be:

"...It DID happen to us........."

"But... we're not in a film, are we?"

Well... this is why you will keep seeing movie theatres showing Renee Zellweger's latest sequel packed with couples holding hands. We need to get our arguments right guys!!!

* depending on experience and the instinct of self-preservation
